CAT Week

CAT Week: 11-18 March 2017 with Makenzie @bqueencollection

Hello, hello! ๐Ÿ‘‹ I’m Makenzie @bqueencollection and thrilled to be moderating the CAT account again. Thank you so much to Nat @littlecosythings for your lovely theme and interviews with us moderators.

Some of you know by now (because gosh, there’s almost 90K followers!), that we do a weekly theme to inspire our photos and keep things light. With Mandy @crochetbyredagape retiring from CAT and this account having grown SO much since the last time I moderated, I’d like to bring us back to focus.

CAT is more than just getting your photo featured on a huge feed – it’s about the community we can provide for each other, the outreach that can happen, the connections that can be created. This is what inspired Mandy to start this community.

We use our hands to craft and our hands to hold the camera for these pictures. The hands belong to a real person, with their own struggles. Sometimes social media encourages us to disassociate (ironically) instead of to relate – to “scroll scroll scroll” (as Mr BQueen says) instead of pausing to consider, connect, and engage beyond a “like.”

The grids I post this week will be from the general #craftastherapy tag – please look beyond the pretty pictures featured and ๐Ÿ‘‰visit the person’s actual account๐Ÿ‘ˆ, say Hi and that you saw them on @craftastherapy. Find a picture on their feed and comment on it – and be genuine. Remember that there are hands behind the photo.

You ever know who really needed that connection, how you may be changing someone’s day – or even life – by a sincere comment. Let’s remind ourselves that there are people on here, and we aren’t alone.

Yay! Your guys’ response to this week’s “refocus” theme is spectacular! How uplifting to be surrounded by those who *want* to engage and connect. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Let’s start the week off with a bang, and by bang I mean color explosion! These crafters love their colors, and who can blame them? ๐Ÿ˜Ž Tap the photo for the makers.

Now, pick your favorite (or all four!) and go directly to the actual persons account, find this photo or any other ones that strike your fancy in their feed, and leave a comment! Meet someone new and grow our community even further!

Because you exist

And they exist

And that’s the perfect reason to connect in this community! Now go!

Last night was long – between daylight savings kicking our butt, a toddler that keeps “losing” his pacifier throughout the night, a puppy throwing up sticks ๐Ÿ˜ณ and one of those exhausting pregnancy dreams (mine involving adopting a bunch of lions – say what?!). ๐Ÿฆ

We’ve all had long nights for whatever reason, but at least I know my craft is always waiting for me, as is this community, even if I can barely keep my eyes open today. ๐Ÿ™ˆ

But as I sit here in the dark hours of the morning, I hear a Robin already chirping outside, seizing the day – no matter the night.

So today might be a little slower, I might take it easy and really indulge in the 7 months pregnant with a whole lot going on, but craft I will. Create I will. And I hope you will too.

And here are some cheerful pics that inspired me (and hopefully you)! Tap the photo for the sources. Keep tagging #craftastherapy this week!

Happy Monday, from Colorado, USA.

Gah, I โ™ฅ๏ธ these shots! To not only be a crafter, but to be able to capture the craft with such skill is quite a talent!

Double tap the photo if you’re digging the talent, single tap for the sources – and then go say Hey, Hey ๐Ÿ‘‹ to the makers on their accounts!

Remember, this week I’m pulling from the general #craftastherapy feed so keep tagging, connecting, and engaging!

Excuse me while I gawk at every one of these #craftastherapy makers! Spring is just around the corner for us in Colorado (although we’ve been known to get snow in May!), so I can’t help the gravitation towards bright colors!

This week, I’ve wanted us all to focus less on the weekly Craft as Therapy theme and more on connecting, engaging, and communicating within this community. We all have something to offer, whether it’s our craft, our words, or our actions.

We couldn’t possibly understand the lives of everyone, but we can all understand the value and gift of life – and how easily it can slip away. I challenge you to speak up in this community. Don’t be a robot, going through the motions of “liking” and “scrolling” until your eyes bleed. Take time to comment, take time to ask questions – the benefits of connecting goes both ways. Instagram is visual, but it doesn’t have to be *just*. Words matter, and they can change a life. ๐Ÿ’•

Life is short, slow your life down and be conscience in your day, even when in the Instagram app. Let’s have the CAT community be a role model in the Instagram community with our sincere connections and never ending support. We are a group of such talented people, we have so much more to give. ๐Ÿ’•

Happy St Patrick’s Day!

Let’s get talking! 1๏ธโƒฃ Comment below ๐Ÿ‘‡ on what your favorite craft(s) is 2๏ธโƒฃ Tag someone crafty you know so they can answer too! ๐Ÿ‘Š

I’ll start with the first comment below! (Please go to the CAT Instagram page to see comments)

My time as moderator for the week has come to an end! I hope you were inspired to engage, connect, and comment with one another in this CAT community. Remember – it’s easy to scroll through Instagram, easy to skate through life. But Instagram, and life, can be what you make it – a beautiful thing with fulfillment and purpose.

Please join me in the welcoming of talented Amanda @yarn_house

And please come see me @bqueencollection so we can continue to inspire one another. Until next time…
