CAT Crafter Interview with Esther @esthersunday1
Where do you live?: i live in the beautiful mountains of North Idaho, USA.
What craft is your therapy?: Right now it’s my pen and color pencil art, embroidery, crochet and knitting that keeps me occupied. And, thrifting to upcycle finds into crafted items and to recycle furniture. I guess I am doing a lot of therapy, lol!
How long have you been crafting?: I have been crafting and all my life. My very crafty mother taught me how to crochet, knit and embroider along with other crafts. Growing up, we made all our Christmas cards (a lot of red construction paper, glitter and cotton balls were used) and only our handmade ornaments (mostly painted wooden ones) were allowed on our Christmas tree. My dad was very creative as well, creating amazing pen and watercolor drawings and painting rocks. I am grateful to my parents for many things, certainly encouraging creativity is one of them.
Tea or Coffee?: i grew up in a British household (in California), so life revolved around not just a cup of tea, but ‘’a nice cup of tea”. But it’s coffee that has my heart. When I visited my parents, my dear dad would make me a “papa-chino”, he called it, every morning.
Favourite quote: “What I am looking for is not out there, it is in me.” – Helen Keller
Your CAT Story?: During some stressful life experiences, I turned to IG as a means for a creative outlet and stumbled upon the Craftastherapy community. I have since made some amazing connections around the world with people of many different artistic styles. I have been so inspired by our community that it has pushed my own creativity further, most recently inspiring me to launch “Geoff’s heART”, where I sell prints of my dad’s amazing artwork, and my own artwork, with all profit being donated to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital and Shriners Hospitals For Children. I am so grateful for the Craftastherapy hashtag, our amazing community and the hard work of the craftastherapy moderators! Thank you!!
