Interview with CAT Crafter – Amber @thesculptedsock
Where do you live?: Ontario Canada
What craft is your therapy?: Recently, I’ve been on a bit of a knitting spree. But my main love is sewing socks into little characters.
How long have you been crafting for?: I’ve been crafting since I was a kid, starting out with beads and making necklaces… then macramé hemp necklaces… then a love for sewing later in my teens. However, sewing took a bit of a hiatus in my 20’s due to some faulty sewing machine needles (*one thing I’ve learned – don’t buy sewing machine needles at the dollar store – it will make you hate your sewing machine and hate sewing!!!) In 2012, I bought some new sewing machine needles and had my old Battle-ax Bess tuned up – I haven’t looked back since…
Your CAT story?: We moved to a new city in 2013, it was a difficult move, especially for an introvert. We found a church soon after, and it just so happened that every Wednesday a group of ladies would gather together and craft… this is where I learned how to knit and crochet, most of these super-talented ladies don’t have Instagram accounts, besides Louisa @stitchingtherapywho taught me all I know! I should also add that this process took over a year, and only recently (2016) did I learn how to knit… did I mention I was an introvert 😉 I love seeing/’meeting’ many of the colourful IG accounts posted here on CAT – so inspiring 😊My goal for 2017 is to knit a pair of socks – I still have few months to do this 😉
Thank you so much for sharing with us Amber @thesculptedsock 😘
